Human Trafficking

What is "Human Trafficking" ?

  • Human trafficking is modern day slavery. 
  • Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act.
  • Right now there are 45 million people in the world enslaved. 
  • In the United States there are anywhere from 100,000-300,000 minors sex trafficked every year
  • It is estimated to generate $150 billion in profits, second only to arms trading.

Where does "Human Trafficking" occur?

  • Restaurants
  • Massage parlors
  • Retirement homes
  • House Cleaning Agencies
  • Brothels
  • Agriculture
  • Cocoa Farms
  • Fishing Industry
  • Construction 
  • Magazine Crews
  • Nail Salons
  • Malls 
  • Online chat rooms

Warning Signs to Look For:

  • Victim will not make eye contact , displays significant  behavior changes in personality 
  • Dominating figure always answering for the person &  never leaving them alone 
  • Sudden unexplained gifts/money, purses , clothes 
  • Isolation not communicating with other friends or family , appears secretive about who they are talking to or meeting
  • Withdrawn or detached 
  • Responses are rehearsed 
  • Has an older controlling "boyfriend/girlfriend/friend" 
  • Victims can be any age, race, gender identity, sexuality, or nationality 
  • Low-self esteem

What We Do

 Our goal is to have the phrase “Red Rover” be known as a signal for help around the world. When a victim is in need of help, they simply need say "Red Rover" to alert bystanders to call the National Trafficking Hotline: 888-373-7888 or text BeFree

Other Ways To Report

 

In the case of an immediate emergency, call your local police department or emergency access number.


To report sexually exploited or abused minors, call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST, or report incidents at http://www.cybertipline.org.
